The Jugurthine War Pt2

In episode three of The History Pot, the host finishes the Jugurthine War, framing Rome’s struggle as a “Vietnam”-style guerrilla conflict. Massiva’s bid for Numidia is cut short when Jugurtha has him assassinated in Rome, leading to Jugurtha’s expulsion and renewed war. Spurius Albinus leaves his brother Aulus in command; Aulus disastrously pursues Jugurtha, is trapped, surrenders, and his army is humiliated under the yoke. Quintus Caecilius Metellus restores discipline, defeats Jugurtha in battle. Marius wins the consulship, reforms recruitment by enlisting the poor with state-supplied gear and retirement promises, campaigns harshly, and with Sulla negotiates King Bocchus’s betrayal: Jugurtha is delivered in chains, taken to Rome, paraded in triumph, and ceremonially strangled.  Host Dean Jernigan.  Deanjernigancomedy.com , Deanjernigancomedy@gmail.com
